Christmas Memorial Service & Community Remembrance at Hughes Funeral Directors
Christmas can be a particularly difficult time for those who are missing someone special. At Hughes Funeral Directors, we believe remembrance should extend beyond the funeral itself, which is why each year we create meaningful ways for families and the wider community to honour loved ones during the festive season.
Our Annual Christmas Memorial Service
This year, our Christmas Memorial Service takes place on Wednesday 17th December, held in partnership with St Matthew’s Church. The service offers a quiet, reflective space to remember those no longer with us, surrounded by understanding, compassion, and community support.
Everyone is welcome to attend — even if Hughes Funeral Directors were not involved in your loved one’s care. If you wish to join us, simply contact our office to let us know you’re coming and provide your loved one’s name so they can be included in our remembrance.
Our Memorial Tree: A Place of Love and Reflection
In our office, our Christmas Memorial Tree stands as a gentle reminder that love never ends. Each name placed on the tree represents a life deeply cherished.
Families are warmly invited to:
Bring a bauble to hang in memory of a loved one
Write a message on a heart and place it beside their name
Our door is always open, and we hope this small but meaningful gesture brings comfort throughout the festive season.
The Post Box to Heaven
One of the most touching traditions we see each year is the use of our Post Box to Heaven. Recently, Arron visited our office to post a Christmas card to his Grandma — something he does every year. It brings him comfort, and it brings a smile to all of us every time.
The Post Box to Heaven is available for anyone who wishes to send a message, letter, or Christmas card to a loved one who is no longer here.
Thank You for Trusting Us
As the year draws to a close, we want to say thank you to every family who has trusted us with the care of their loved one. It is a privilege we never take lightly. The kindness shown to us — from cards to handmade gifts — reminds us why this work matters and how deep these connections truly are.
Supporting Our Community at Christmas
At Hughes Funeral Directors, supporting the Wolverhampton community is at the heart of everything we do. From our memorial events to small gestures that bring comfort and smiles, we are here for you — not just on the day of a funeral, but long after.
If you would like to attend our memorial service, add a name to our memorial tree, use the Post Box to Heaven, or simply pop in for a quiet moment of reflection, you are always welcome.
💚 You are never alone.
